Which CeMAP Exam is the Hardest?

CeMAP is a respected qualification enabling you to become a qualified mortgage adviser. However, the part of the qualification that often concerns students the most is the exams. To help reassure you, we’ve put together this handy guide to CeMAP exams.

The CeMAP exams

The CeMAP qualification is split into seven units and assessed in three modules. You will need to sit three exams to successfully complete your qualification.

Module 1 – UK Financial Regulation (UKFR)
The first module is an introduction to mortgage advice and the wider financial services industry. You will need to learn about the following for your exam:

• The environment of the financial services industry.
• An introduction to the main financial services products.
• The interplay between regulation and legislation.

The exam
The exam for this module lasts for two hours and comprises of 100 multiple choice questions based on the areas covered in this module.

Module 2 – Mortgages (MORT)
As the title suggests, this module is all about mortgages. It provides the perfect base of knowledge in this specialist area, enabling you to confidently help future clients as a mortgage adviser. You will need to learn about the following for your exam:

• The procedures, processes and legislation relating to mortgage applications and purchasing a property.
• The types of products and issues borrowers may face after a mortgage has been completed.

The exam
Like the first module, your exam for the second module lasts for two hours and comprises of 100 multiple choice questions based on areas covered in this module.

Module 3 – Assessment of Mortgage Advice and Knowledge (ASSM)
There is nothing new to learn for the final module, and this final CeMAP exam has a different format to the others:

• Consolidation of the knowledge acquired and application to case study scenarios.

The exam
For this module you will be asked to respond to six case studies. You will apply the knowledge from
Modules 1 and 2 to answer 10 multiple choice questions per case study.

So, which CeMAP exam is the hardest?

The answer to this question will naturally depend on the individual student. Different people have different strengths but most like the fact that all CeMAP exams are multiple choice.
