What is the DipFA qualification?
DipFA stands for the Diploma for Financial Advisers and it is the minimum qualification level you need in order to practise as a financial adviser, as stated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Once you have passed, you will be legally able to offer professional financial advice. DipFA is acknowledged as being one of the most highly regarded financial adviser qualifications.
DipFA has been specifically designed for those who may not have any existing knowledge or prior experience of the financial industry, making it the ideal choice if you want to break into a new career within this sector. It can also be a suitable qualification for those who already work in finance and want to expand upon their service offering.
How long does DipFA take?
The time required to complete the DipFA qualification will depend on each student’s circumstances. However, you can typically expect to complete your qualification within as little as 6 months of part-time study.
The DipFA course includes 6 modules: 5 online Live Webinar modules delivered by our highly experienced training team, and a 6th e-learning coursework module.
- Module 1 – Financial Services Regulation Ethics (FSRE): 8 x 3-hour tutorials over 4 days.
- Module 2 – Taxation: 4 x 3-hour tutorials over 2 days.
- Module 3 – Investment: 6 x 3-hour tutorials over 3 days.
- Module 4 – Protection: 4 x 3-hour tutorials over 2 days.
- Module 5 – Retirement Planning: 6 x 3-hour tutorials over 3 days.
Module 1 provides a comprehensive introduction to the Financial Services industry. The remaining 5 Live Webinar Modules build upon these foundations, helping you learn how to apply your knowledge in your new career.
Modules 1-5 are each followed by a multiple-choice assessment, which will include some case study questions.
Once you’ve completed modules 1-5, you will undertake the e-learning coursework module 6. This part of the course is self-directed, and you’ll be assessed on the essay you write in response to a pre-released fact find.
