Mortgage Advice
21 July 2026
Thinking about a career as a mortgage adviser but worried it’ll take months to qualify? It doesn’t have to. CeMAP is one of the fastest routes into Financial Services – our Classroom and Live Webinar courses can take as little as two weeks, while Self-Study lets you work towards it at your own pace, usually within around 6 months.
How long it takes you really comes down to one thing: which study route fits your life right now. Below, we break down exactly what to expect from each option, so you can choose with confidence and know what your own timeline is likely to look like.

Full details of each route are below.
How long does the CeMAP Classroom or Live Webinar course take?
Our CeMAP training programme is delivered over two intensive 5-day workshops, one for Module 1 (FSRE) and one for Modules 2&3 (MORT and ASSM), so you could complete your studies and sit your exams within two weeks of full-time study. This makes it one of the quickest routes to becoming a fully qualified mortgage adviser.
While this is a quick route into your new career, we make sure you’ll learn everything you need to give mortgage advice competently and confidently.
These courses have been designed for students from all walks of life. You don’t need any prior knowledge or experience in the sector, and there are no prerequisite qualifications required, just a good understanding of English and mathematics. We’ll teach you the rest.
Our course materials are designed to be clear and easy to follow. Combined with the expert tuition of our experienced trainers, you’ll gain not just the knowledge you need to pass your exams, but also practical industry insight you can take into your new career.
How long does CeMAP Self-Study take?
Sometimes attending a classroom-based course isn’t feasible, which is why we also offer a Self-Study option using our online CeMAP study portal, accessible any time of day or night from your PC, Mac or tablet.
Self-Study takes around 50 hours of study per module, and most learners complete all three CeMAP modules within 6 months when fitting study around work and other commitments. It takes longer than the Classroom or Live Webinar route, but its flexibility means you can study at your own pace while working towards your new career.
How long do you have to complete your CeMAP exams?
Whichever route you choose, once you’ve registered for a module, you’ll have 12 months to sit and pass the exams for that module, or 18 months if you register for the full CeMAP qualification at the same time. This gives you flexibility to fit revision and exams around your schedule, even if you finish your course materials more quickly.
What if I don’t pass first time?
If you don’t pass a unit first time, you only need to resit that unit rather than the whole module, so it won’t add much time to your overall timeline. The resit fee is £120 per unit, and you’ll still need to sit and pass within your original registration window.
What do I need to start studying CeMAP?
You don’t need any prior knowledge, previous experience in the sector, or prerequisite qualifications to start studying CeMAP, just a good understanding of English and mathematics. We’ll teach you everything else you need to know.
How can I book my CeMAP course?
Whether you want to qualify in two weeks or study at your own pace over a few months, there’s a CeMAP route that fits your life. The sooner you get started, the sooner you could be working towards a new career as a mortgage adviser.
