Why become a competent mortgage adviser?
7 October 2016

The CMAcert programme has been withdrawn and is no longer open to new enrolments.
Becoming CeMAP qualified is the first step in moving along the professional career path of a mortgage adviser. After completing the regulatory CeMAP qualification, you should then be looking to obtain your Competent Adviser Status (CAS), giving you that professional sign off to confirm you are competent in the job role, as well as giving both employers and clients reassurance of your abilities as an adviser.
The timeframe to gain your CAS status can depend on many factors, mainly how quickly and efficiently you can present the key skills required in the day-to-day job role. To assist with gaining this knowledge, Simply Academy have developed the Competent Mortgage Adviser Certificate (CMAcert) which will help advisers develop the skills and knowledge they need to be deemed competent.
The CMAcert is a unique, interactive online study course where you will learn various skills invaluable to your new job role with the aim to obtain your CAS sign off as soon as possible. The course is broken down into units which form sections of a mortgage adviser’s role, such as Finding Your Client and Mortgage & Protection Recommendation. As you progress through these units you will be tested after each one, and this mark will count towards your final assessment at the end of the course.
While you work through each CMAcert section you will also be evidencing your progress in a digital workbook which can be printed off and presented to an employer to show the knowledge and skills you have gained, and therefore showing that you will only need minimal supervision before obtaining your CAS sign off. The CMAcert course is supported via the Helpdesk by our knowledge course tutors who are on hand to assist throughout your learning journey should you have any questions.
