Is a CMA certificate useful?
22 October 2015
The Competent Mortgage Adviser certificate is a completely new and totally unique qualification which helps bridge the skills gap for newly CeMAP qualified advisers to gain their Competent Adviser Status. Now you have completed your CeMAP qualification and you are looking to start your new career as a mortgage adviser, you may wonder if a CMAcert will be of any real use to you.
Having completed the regulatory CeMAP qualification which teaches you the legalities of providing mortgage advice to clients, the CMAcert concentrates on developing your knowledge and skills in the more practical side of the job, such as how to attract clients and how to design and present recommendation packages. In the past, these vital skills have only been obtainable by shadowing a senior adviser for weeks or months to learn and build your abilities, but now you can gain this invaluable knowledge prior to starting your new role, and prove to your employer and senior advisers that you already have the required skillset for the job.
Anyone entering a job within the financial sector will have to gain Competent Adviser Status. This means you will be overseen by a senior adviser to ensure you are competent in your role, and once they are satisfied of this, you will be signed off as a competent adviser. While this can take some time as you are just starting in the job role and do not have any first-hand knowledge of the day-to-day tasks you will face, the CMAcert gives you the experience you need to hit the ground running and proves your competency to your employer.
Not only is the interactive CMAcert e-course flexible to study at times that best suit you, it is also iPad and tablet friendly, giving you an even broader study option. As part of your studies, you will receive tutor support throughout your learner journey, and you can also discuss the course and other aspects of the job with other students currently undertaking their CMAcert through our discussion forums.
